"Hank's Bad Hair Day" is the 79th episode in the FOX animated situation comedy series" King of the Hill" and was the 19th episode of the fourth season.

Plot

When Jack, Hank's life-long barber, becomes unfit to cut hair due to senile dementia, Hank turns to his wife's stylist who gives him a trendy haircut he hates. Deciding to give Jack one more chance, Hank winds up with a head of bleached blond hair.

Bill becomes insulted that Hank has overlooked him, a career barber with the Army, while looking for a new barber. To soothe his friend's feelings, and figuring he can get another barber to correct any damage Bill does, Hank reluctantly agrees to let Bill cut his hair. To Hank's surprise, Bill does as "Jack-good job" on his hair and he insists on paying for the cut. As Bill does not have a normal fee, he submits the bill to the Army's accounting office and not long afterwards Hank receives an invoice from the Army for $900.

Outraged that the Army would charge so much, Hank calls his congressman who initially sends a standard form letter. However, a few days later, Hank receives a whistle-blower award for $3900, and a statue of a "Point of Light". The spotlight on the Army's inefficiency results in the Army shutting down the base army shop and transferring Bill to being a recruiter, a job he's ill-suited for. Bill observes that being a barber was the only thing he was good at.

The result of a decommissioned base barbershop is that everyone on the base receives the trendy haircuts that are as poorly received among the army personnel as it was with Hank. The Army then gives Bill an official title of electrician, while operating a secret barbershop in order to avoid detection by the congressional oversight committee.
