Ongole as lot of manufacturing and granite industries have sprung in the last couple of decades. Thegranite industry is transforming the area betweenOngole andChimakurthi which are 12 miles apart on Kurnool road. The areas surroundingChimakurthi are a major source of prized black granite.The village is primarily known around the area for its private educational institutes such as Subbiah School and Adarsha Residential College.
It has 3 main temples and few other minor temples. The main temples with rich patronages are
Rama ,Vishnu , andShiva temples. The majority patrons of the first two temples are the competing political factions which are also different castes Reddys (Congress) and Kammas (TDP) respectively..
