Golden Lion (pub)

The Golden Lion in St Ives, Cambridgeshire is a former coaching inn. Whilst the coaching inn is now more known as a pub and popular night spot, there is said to be a darker secret within its four walls.

The pub dates back to 1605. It has been renovated many times since. In 1610 a family of Gypsy musicians arrived to stay the night. They were on a mission to seek the Holy Grail and had travelled throughout EuropeFact|date=June 2007. They had been brought to England after hearing stories of its location within Britain. That night the banjo and flute playing Gypsies stayed at the inn. In the early hours of the morning the caravan parked in the coach hall (now garden area) was burnt to the ground with the two children asleep in it. To this day people staying at the hotel still hear the boy and girl running in the halls at night. There are even storiesFact|date=June 2007 of the boy and the girl appearing in the mirrors in the bathrooms in the en-suite bedrooms. Stories of the banjos and flutes being played in the night have also been reported.

Each May groups of tourists flock to the pub with the hope of seeing the two Gypsy children, with most sightings appearing in May and June time.
