- Wanstead tube station
Wanstead tube station is a
London Underground station inWanstead , on the Hainault loop of theCentral Line . It is in Zone 4.Construction of the station had started in the 1930s, but was delayed by the onset of World War 2. Wanstead was not opened until
December 14 ,1947 . The station buildings, located opposite The Green, were designed by architectCharles Holden , like many other stations on the branch.The station is being extensively refurbished in 2006/7 with the original platform wall tiling, that had become badly damaged, being replaced. However some of the circular passenger information/alarm terminals were still covered up as of early September 2008.
