History

"Latina", a magazine for Hispanic women, is the flagship property of Latina Media Ventures, LLC. The magazine is dedicated to Latinas and serves as a reminder of their beauty, strength and pride as well as symbolizing to them and to others all of the important work, talent and culture that Latinos continue to deliver in the United States.

Latina was founded in 1996 by Christy Haubegger, a native Houstonian. She is a graduate of St. John's School, the University of Texas, and Stanford Law School.

Published 10 times a year, the magazine's current audience as of Fall 2006 is over 3 million. Latina has increased its circulation every year except one since its 1996 inception. As of February 2008 its estimated rate base will increase to 500,000. The pages of Latina consistently featured the most prominent Latin artists in the U.S. and beyond: such as Jennifer Lopez, Rita Hayworth, Penelope Cruz, Shakira, Raquel Welch, Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek, Juanes, America Ferrera, Antonio Banderas, Alejandro Fernández, John Leguizamo, Calle 13, Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu, Enrique Iglesias and Gael Garcia Bernal to name just a few.
