Electric fireplace

An electric fireplace is a fireplace powered by electricity rather than traditional fuel sources such as coal, wood, peat, or natural gas.

Many enjoy electric fireplaces for budget, safety, and convenience concerns. No special preparation is needed to install an electric fireplace; a standard household electrical outlet will suffice. They are said to run on only a few cents an hour using a "flame only" setting. It is also said that electric fireplaces heat well, with a 4500-5000 btu average that can heat a 400 square foot room.

In common with other types of direct electric heating, electric fireplaces are not considered environmentally friendly because most electricity is generated remotely using fossil fuels, with up to two-thirds of energy in the fuel lost at the power station and in transmission losses. When looking into the history of electric, since 1995, Dimplex developed and turned out the first electric fireplace with a wood-burning flame effect. In 1996 a competitor named ClassicFlame came to the scene.
