† Appearances (Goals).Mike Zonneveld (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈmɑjk ˈzɔnəˌvɛɫt]) (born October 27, 1980 in Leiden) is a Dutch footballer who currently plays for NAC Breda, mainly as a left back.
Zonneveld is a versatile left-footed player who can play as a left-back, left-winger or holding midfielder. He started his career at Ajax in their academy before moving on to Go Ahead Eagles and NEC Nijmegen before joing NAC Breda and then PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2007.[1] In the summer of 2009, PSV has agreed to lend out Zonneveld to FC Groningen where he will play one year at a loan with an option to buy. He will replace Yevhen Levchenko who has left the club.
In his first season with PSV he had to fill up the gap left by former-number 5 jersey wearer Michael Ball. In the 2008–2009 season, with the signings of Bréchet and Pieters he is more likely to play for the left midfielder-spot, which is heavily concurred by Hungarian Balázs Dzsudzsák.
At FC Groningen, he is likely going to play for the left midfielder-spot which was left empty after the lost of Yevhen Levchenko who has moved to Saturn Ramenskoye. Zonneveld is considered a back-up plan after the negotiations with Halmstads BK for Finnish Midfielder Tim Sparv failed, because the club does not wanted to lose Sparv yet. After this, Groningen has had contact with Jan Reker for loaning Zonneveld till the end of the season. First it looked like Groningen did not want to pay the loan-fee, because it was too high. One day later, Groningen and PSV agreed terms and Zonneveld became a player of FC Groningen.
