The Reds traded Jeff Montgomery to theKansas City Royals for him on February 15, 1988 and he made his ML debut with them on September 2, 1988 against theChicago Cubs . After the 1989 season he was traded to theNew York Yankees along with Tim Leary forHal Morris and minor leaguerRodney Imes . He never again played at the major league level, although he continued to play in the minors until by|1995.Van now enjoys a successful career as a police officer for the City of
