- Bill Wambach
Bill Wambach was born in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin . He has lived in Sun Prairie since 1978. He successfully broke the national high-jump record for the 80-84 year old division with a jump of 1.26 meters (4'1") at the 2006Badger State Games . Bill Wambach has been competing in the Badger State Games for many years. In the 1940s, Bill Wambach competed as ahigh jumper forMarquette University . Though he once cleared 6 ft. 2 in., he never was a serious threat for breaking the national record. Bill keeps fit by biking, cross-country skiing and walking. Bill says the reason he is doing so well is because, “I’ve just outlived all the good guys who could beat me.”Bill is a retired district highway engineer. He lives in a senior rental complex with his wife, Lorette. He enjoys spending time with his many grandchildren.
Bill started participating in the
Young Eagles program at theEAA AirVenture Museum in 1992, since when he has flown over 550 children.References
