Fitz Vanderpool & KitchenerAt the City of Kitchener Athletics Banquet, which took place on February 27th, Jessamine Hunsdale Loh was awarded the 2006 Canadian Championship. At only 15 years of age, she is the youngest female Canadian Champion in the Tri Cities, which is quite an accomplishment.
The Whip Boxing Academy held a dance on July 21st at the Edelweiss Tavern in Kitchener to raise funds for those boxers participating in the Ringside World Championships in Kansas, U.S.A.
From July 31st to Aug 4th, The Whip Boxing Academy took 3 boxers to the Ringside World Championship in Kansas, U.S.A. The Academy returned with Ringside World Champion and gold medalist Christian O'Brien while David Palacios went on to win the silver medal after losing a controversial decision to the gold medalist.
Kitchener held the Annual Blues Festival on August 10th to August 12th 2007, which The Whip Boxing Academy was proud to be a part of. Ringside World Boxing Champion Christian O'Brien and Former Professional World Boxing Champion Fitz “The Whip” were introduced and brought up on stage at the event to speak to the beautiful crowd in attendance.
On August 13th, Christian O'Brien and Team Whip appeared at City Council Chambers to make an appearance before the mayor and city councillors to show the Ringside World Championship belt and to request for some local support to advance the careers of these very talented boxer.
The 7th Annual Tri-City Boxing Battle for the Belt was hosted by The Whip Boxing Academy on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Bingemans (Marshall Hall) in Kitchener. There were many exciting fights and celebrities in attendance. For example, MPP John Milloy and Adam Higson (Kickboxing Champion) were in attendance. In addition, there was a silent auction and a 50/50 draw. 2007 Ringside World Boxing Christian O'Brien boxed on the card.
