Tom Samek

Tom Samek

Tom Samek is a painter, sculptor, printmaker, mural artist, theatre set designer, film animator and chef.Born in Prague on the 11th of March 1950 Tom Samek left the Czech Republic in 1969 for Germany and Switzerland. In 1970 he lived in Austria before moving to Australia in 1971. In 1972 he returned to Bregenz in Austria where he studied Printmaking with Eric Smodic before returning to Australia permanently in 1973.

Tom Samek's work is represented in many collections including "Australian National Gallery, South Australian Art Gallery, Auckland City Gallery, Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, Australia Council, Artbank" as well as in many corporate and private collections.

Tom Samek's work traverses a wide variety of media but it probably his printmaking for which he is best known. Exquisitely rendered and punningly titled Tom Samek's artistic vision has brought delight and knowing smiles to many faces and many people.Tom Samek lives and works in Hobart, Tasmania
