Hallstrom Homeschool

Hallstrom Homeschool Workshops, or HHWS, is a homeschool co-op based in Rockford, Illinois run by Lois Dixon. It consists of general education classes and extra-curricular classes such as drama, choir, and art. The ages range from pre-school to 12th grade, and occasionally adults. The classes are held on every Tuesday and Thursday during the school year at Temple Baptist Church. Board of Directors

The board of directors, consisting of 8 mothers, decides on things such as suspension, rules, and approving the content of the Hallstrom Gazette. They hold positions such as secretary, treasurer, board advisor, teacher liaison and more.

tudent Council

Student council meets the 4th Tuesday of each month from 10:00 to 10:25. Only 8th-12th graders can attend and run for offices. At the end of each year, anyone who has signed in at more than half of the meetings can vote on officers for the next year. Student council runs events such as parties and the spring and fall banquets. They also plan H.I.S meetings. H.I.S stands for Homeschoolers Impacting Society. There is a junior student council that meets on Thursdays, and that is open to 5th-7th graders.

Rules

There is a mandatory dress code for Hallstrom consisting of polo shirts and khakis, with boys having the option of shorts, and girls having the option of skirts or capris. The students are allowed to change into gym outfits, but they must change back to the polos and khakis when the gym classes are done. There are also restrictions on the number of buttons on the polo shirts; the length, color, and style of the student's hair; and any accessories.There are also rules on children leaving the building, and a "No Dating" policy.

If you break any of the rules, you can get a citation. Three citations result in dismissal from Hallstrom. However, if it is considered gross misconduct, it could result in the immediate dismissal from Hallstrom
