- Emperor Senka
Emperor Senka (宜化天皇 "Senka-tennō") was the 28th emperor of
Japan , according to the traditional order of succession. [Titsingh, Isaac. (1834). "Annales des empereurs du japon," pp. 33-34; Varley, Paul. (1980). "Jinnō Shōtōki," p. 121.] No firm dates can be assigned to this emperor's life or reign. Keitai is considered to have ruled the country during the early-6th century, but there is a paucity of information about him. Scholars can only lament that, at this time, there is insufficient material available for further verification and study.During this reign,
Soga no Iname [Titsingh, p. 33.] is believed to have been the first verifiable "Great Minister" or "Omi " (also identified as "Ō-omi").When
Emperor Ankan died, he had no offspring, so his younger brother Emperor Senka succeeded to the throne. As he was very old at the time of his enthronement (69 years old), and his reign only lasted 3 years, not many events or achievements have been attributed to his reign.Notes and References
