Windows 4.x

Windows 4.x

Windows 4.x was a series of fourth-generation versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system released from 1995 to 2000, more often referred to as "Windows 9x" or "Windows 9x/Me".

The series comprised the following releases of Windows:

*Windows 95 - version 4.00.950
*Windows 98 - version 4.10.1998
*Windows 98 SE (Second Edition) - version 4.10.2222
*Windows Me (Millennium Edition) - version 4.90.3000

Windows 4.x should not be confused with Windows NT 4.0. While having a cosmetically similar graphical user interface, NT 4.0 was based on the 32-bit Windows NT kernel, unlike the Windows 4.x series.
