Clarita Carlos is a respected political analyst and academician in the Philippines. She is currently President of the Center for Asia Pacific Studies Inc., and a full-time professor at the University of the Philippines, Diliman.

Education
Clarita Carlos received a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service at the University of the Philippines, where she also earned master’s and doctorate degrees in Political Science. She pursued her post-doctoral degrees in Political psychology and Comparative Foreign Policy Analysis at Cornell University and University of California at Los Angeles respectively.
Career
Carlos worked as a consultant in the Senate of the Philippines from 1988 to 1998.
At the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Carlos was Maximo Kalaw Professor of Peace and Environment from 1994 to 1995, and Elpidio Quirino Professor of International Relations from 1995 to 1996.
Carlos served as President of the National Defense College of the Philippines from 1998 to October, 2001.
She is a consultant of the Local Government Development Foundation since 1993, and is currently President of the Center for Asia Pacific Studies. She is a Full Professor of Political Science at the University of the Philippines.
Carlos has lectured at the National Defense University in the United States, and also at the Council of Asian Liberals & Democrats.
Expertise
Carlos's areas of expertise range from Philippine politics and government, political dynamics, comparative politics, international relations, political theory and methodology. She has written numerous books and articles about Philippine electoral and political party systems.
Carlos is a recognized pioneer in Political Psychology in the country.
