- John Boxtel
John Boxtel was born in the
Netherlands in 1930. He studiedarchitecture at the Technical School inTilburg, Netherlands . After emigrating to Canada in 1954, he studied at theUniversity of Toronto ,Ontario College of Art inToronto ,Ontario and the Artists' Workshop inLondon, Ontario . In 1967, he became anart teacher . His works includesculpture ,woodcarving , architectural drafting,design andbuilding . He has had gallery exhibitions inToronto , Hamilton,Montreal , Kingston,Boston and the Netherlands. His publiccommission ed works for monuments were done in the Netherlands,Switzerland ,Canada andUSA .His works include:
* "The Peacekeeper", a sculpture of a larger than life-size depicting asoldier inuniform carrying his gun in his left hand and a child on his right arm. The sculpture is on the wall in theRoyal Military College of Canada library inKingston, Ontario .
