- Kojori
Kojori ( _ka. კოჯორი) is a
townlet ("daba") in Georgia, some 20 kilometers southwest of the nation’s capital ofTbilisi . It is a climatic spa and a home to severaldacha s of the Tbilisite families.South of the townlet, on Azeuli Hill, stands the medieval Kojori Fortress (also known as Agarani or Azeuli Fortress), the earliest layers of which dates to the late 11th century, but most of the structures is relatively newer dating back to the 16th-18th century. During the
Red Army invasion of Georgia in February 1921, the heights of Kojori were a scene of heavy fighting between the Georgian andRussian SFSR forces. A monument to the Georgianjunkers who fell in this battle was erected on the site in the 1990s.An élite Ministry of Defense Special Forces Brigade ("The Kojori Brigade") is headquartered near Kojori.
