1997 Beach Volleyball World Championships
- 1997 Beach Volleyball World Championships
The1997 Beach Volleybal World Championships, were held from September 10 to September 13, 1997 in Los Angeles, California (United States). It was the first official edition of this event, after ten unofficial championships (1987-1996) all held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Ericsson and Nike presented the First Official Men's and Women's Beach Volleyball World Championships at the UCLA Campus. Men and women players were rewarded on an equal footing with total $600,000 in total prize money. The event was broadcast in more than 120 countries.
