The HSV VXR is a high performance coupe hatchback manufactured by Opel (engineered by the Opel Performance Centre) in Belgium and re-badged by HSV. The VXR is based on the Holden Astra, but with major performance and technology upgrades such as a 2.0i 16v ECOTEC-4 turbocharged engine which has an output of 177 kW (237 hp) at 5600 rpm. The suspension is heavily modified on the VXR (to separate it from the Astra) it features McPherson struts up the front and a torsion rear beam at the back assisted by an IDS chassis control system. Electronic stability control (ESP), anti-lock brakes (ABS), traction control and 8 airbags are some of the safety systems within this vehicle.
