Robert Monell

Robert Monell (1786 - November 291860) was a United States Representative from New York.

Monell was born in Columbia County, New York in 1786, he pursued classical studies; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1809 and commenced practice at Binghamton, New York; moved to Greene, New York, in 1811 and continued the practice of his profession; member of the New York State Assembly in 1814 and 1815; elected as a Democratic-Republican to the 16th United States Congress (March 41819 - March 31821); again a member of the state assembly in 1825, 1826, and 1828; district attorney of Chenango County in 1827; elected as a Jacksonian to the 21st United States Congress, and served from March 41829, until February 211831, when he resigned; circuit judge of the sixth circuit 1831 - 1845; clerk of the state supreme court in 1846; resumed the practice of law; died in Greene, New York on November 291860; interment in Hornby Cemetery.
