Infraclass (zoology)

In zoology, an infraclass is a further subdivision of a subclass, but it is rarely used. The next rank below the infraclass would be the Order or Superorder. For example:

* Phylum Arthropoda
** Subphylum Crustacea
*** Class Maxillopoda
**** Subclass Thecostraca
***** Infraclass Cirripedia (barnacles)
