J. K. Rowling .Nicholas Hooper composed the film's score, followingJohn Williams , who scored the first three films, andPatrick Doyle who did the fourth. Though new to the series, he has worked with directorDavid Yates before. The soundtrack was released 10 July 2007, the day before the film's release.cite news|url=http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/?articleID=9649|title="Order of the Phoenix" Soundtrack Due July 10|date=2007-03-26 |accessdate=2007-03-26|publisher=The Leaky Cauldron]Hooper incorporated into the new score "
Hedwig's Theme ", the series' theme originally written byJohn Williams for the first film and heard in all the subsequent films.cite journal|title=Hooper writes new themes for Potter|last=Carlsson|first=Mikael|date=2007-05-08 |journal=Film Music Weekly|issue=14|pages=4|url=http://www.filmmusicweekly.com/issues/FM_Weekly_050807.pdf|accessdate=2007-05-10] In March and April of 2007, Hooper and theLondon Chamber Orchestra recorded nearly two hours of music atAbbey Road Studios in London. The score, like the film and book, is said to be darker than previous instalments in the series. To emphasise this, the two new main themes reflect the sinister new characterDolores Umbridge , andLord Voldemort 's invasion of Harry's mind. A great JapaneseTaiko drum was used for a deeper sound in the percussion. Another prominent theme represents the Order of the Phoenix, appropriately named "Flight of the Order of the Phoenix". Hooper created a distinctly atmospheric impression. However, there is some discrepancy whether Hooper has "under-played" important scenes, such as the "Hall of Prophecy", where he could have made more of theLondon Chamber Orchestra . Finally, Nicholas Hooper composed an arguably beautiful piece of music called "Loved Ones and Leaving". In this he used three seemingly separate sections: the first is a sad and desolate theme representing the pain ofSirius 's death, secondly a rather quirky theme apparently acknowledgingLuna Lovegood and lastly, the ending piece, ending on a great finish full of warm brass, decorated with recurring piccolo and string ostinati. The soundtrack is also released in a special edition, with a custom hinged box with Navy velveteen fabric. Inside the box will be a 20-page booklet with a foil-embossed front cover.cite news|url = http://www.mugglenet.com/app/news/show/1030 |title=Special Edition of OOTP Soundtrack to be released|date=2007-06-30 |accessdate=2007-07-01|publisher=MuggleNet ]The soundtrack debuted at number 43 on the U.S.
