Philip Carlo

Philip Carlo is a well-known author and biographer of notorious killers Richard Kuklinski and Richard Ramirez.

Life

Philip Carlo was born in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York. Since an early age, he was involved in gang activity. When he was 14 year old, Jimmy Emma, a close friend of Carlos', was shot in broad daylight by a Colombo hitman. He was also shot in the forehead with a .22 pistol in a subsequent gang war. Carlo's family lived next door to Anthony "Gaspipe" Casso when Carlo was a child. Friendship between the two families caused Casso to trust Carlo to write his biography, "Gaspipe". (See Works, Non-Fiction, below.) Carlo was the only writer Casso trusted to do an accurate portrayal of his life, according to the book.
