Kothapeta is a town and a mandal head quarters in East Godavari district in the state of Andhra Pradesh,India. The town is approximately 30 kilometers from Amalapuram and 45 kilometers from Rajahmundry. The population of Kothapeta town is inconclusive. But various reports put the figure at 75,000(2006).

Kothapeta caters to around 7 nearby villages.Most of the residents from the sourrounding villages come to Kothapeta for their daily needs ranging from banking,educational and governmental needs.

Major banks like Statebank,Andhra Bank,Disctrict co-operative Central banks are all located in Kothapeta.

There is a major government general hospital with the latest equipments.Also there are several private nursing homes with the latest equipments.

A P Fire Services department is also stationed here and serves the near by villages and other mandals too.
