Kyoko Edo is a pianist, artistic director, and president of the
Arion-Edo Foundation .After graduating from the
Conservatoire N.S.M.P., she performed with the symphony orchestras ofChicago , theRadio France Symphony Orchestra,Munich Chamber Orchestra , etc. and so on as soloist. She founded theArion-Edo Foundation in 1985, of which she has been president ever since its inception. She has been artistically directing theTokyo Summer Festival every year up to the present.She also was invited as a judge for theTchaikovsky Competition , "George Enescu " International Music Competition in Romania, "le Concours International deLong-Thibaud ", the International Music Competition of Japan, and Geneva International Music Competition."Officier dans l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres" was conferred by the French Government.She received the 1998 Tokyo Citizens' Honorary Award for Culture from theTokyo Metropolitan Government. In 2006 she was awarded by the Japanese Ministry of Culture for the promotion of the Arts. Besides her activities for theArion-Edo Foundation , Ms. Edo’s activities also include the artistic direction of the Amber Hall inKuji and the musical direction of the Phoenix Hall inOsaka .[http://www.arion-edo.org/guide/ arion-edo.org]
