- Giuseppe Baldrighi
Giuseppe Baldrighi (1722-1803) was an Italian painter of the late-
Baroque (Rococo ) and early Neoclassic periods.Born in the town of
Stradella , he initially trained with an unknown painter inNaples , where his family lived. By 1750, he was recruited into theAccademia Clementina ofBologna . He was recruited perhaps due to his skill at miniature paintings by Du Tillot, minister of Philip of Bourbon, and sent to study inParis from 1752-56. Here, he likely encountered Boucher, La Tour,Liotard ,Duplessis , andDesportes , and became known for his watercolors and portraits. For example, he painted the duchess Louise Elizabeth, now Museo Lombardi in Parma and the portrait of "Jacopo Sanvitale" in pastoral dress in Rocca diFontanellato , and a portrait of "Roman Charity" for the Museo di Angers. In 1756 he became professor of the Accademia Reale and painter to the court of
Parma . He actively painted for the Ducal family portraits and a "Triumph of the Faith" for the chapel ofColorno in 1777. He died in Parma in 1803.List of images
