Jacksonville Ice

Jacksonville Ice is a recreational ice-skating rink in Jacksonville, Florida. In addition to skating lessons, figure skating teams and recreational hockey, the facility is home to the Jacksonville Barracudas, Lady Barracudas, Breakers Women's Hockey Team, Jr. Barracudas Youth Hockey, Ice Dogs AAA Midget Team and the University of Florida Gators ice hockey teams.

Jacksonville Ice features the Learn to Skate Program sanctioned by the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) which begins with the youngest skaters entering the Snow Plow Sam program and advancing through Basic Skills, Intermediate, Adult and Freestyle Levels.

In January 2008, a Synchronized Skating Team was established. Members are the top-rated figure skaters who have attained a level of Freestyle/Adult Freestyle 3 or above. USFSA Synchro 1 and Synchro 2 competition rules are maintained.

Jacksonville Ice is the home rink for the First Coast Skate Club of Jacksonville which, together with the USFSA Learn to Skate program, hosts seasonal shows and exhibitions that showcase figure skating students of all levels and ages, professional skaters, coaches, local talent and nationally recognized competitors.

Testing Programs through the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) are held at Jacksonville Ice on a rotating basis, as well as USFSA Testing and Competitions.

Upcoming events include the 2008 Spring Show, "Ice School Musical", on May 3, 2008 from 11:45am to 1:45pm; the USFSA Basic Skills Competition/Testing on June 22, 2008; a PSA Workshop for Coaches in March and PSA Testing (written exams and executed skills).

A "Summer Skate School" and "Intro to Excellence" classes are now being offered by Evy & Mary Scotvold, elite coaches of championship figure skaters.

Jacksonville Ice is the home rink of North Florida Youth Hockey Association.

Updated information can be found on the rink's website: www.jaxiceskating.com

Jacksonville Ice also hosts ice skating-themed Birthday Parties, Group Events and Private Functions, with a full-service Concession Area offering a variety of food and drinks.

Jacksonville Ice was formerly called Skate World and included an inline roller skating track. Jacksonville Ice now focuses solely on its maximized ice surface. It was the home of the Jacksonville Bullets of the Southern Hockey League (1995-96).
