As a child, he began his Hollywood career as a voice actor playing the part of "Peppermint Patty" in Peanuts specials.
His sister Gail DeFaria had voiced Peppermint Patty before he was cast. In addition, his sister Lisa DeFaria voiced Patty (not to be confused with Peppermint Patty) in It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown alongside Gail who voiced Pig Pen. His daughter Adrienne voiced the character Eglantine in Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole.
