- Sah Rizvi
S A H Rizvi (1949-2005) was an Indian mathematician, specializing in medieval mathematics and astronomy. He was born in
Varanasi and died in Hyderabad on December 18, 2005. He studied atLucknow University . Later, inspired byW. H. Abdi , he showed keen interest in the field of mathematics, philosophy, and astronomy. It was under Professor Abdi's guidance that he received his doctorate in history of science fromCochin University of science and technology. CUSAT 1984He worked on the development of mathematics idea's and physical concepts in India during medieval period mainly using primary sources in Persian and Arabic and correlating them with Sanskrit works.
He had knowledge of many classical languages including Arabic, Persian, Sanskrit, English, and Russian. Hence was among a few scholars with an expertise in history of exact science.
He had been engaged in historical and philosophical studies concerning science and technology.he worked on project sponsored by The
Indian National Science Academy , New Delhi. to study an important mathematical textKhulasat-al-hisab ofBaha al -din Amuli , used by advanced students of mathematics during the medieval.
