Alexander Cintrón (born December 17, 1978 in city-state|Humacao|Puerto Rico) is a Major League Baseball infielder who is currently a shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles. He is a switch-hitter and throws right-handed.

Baseball Career

Drafted in the 37th round of the by|1997 amateur draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cintrón made his major league debut with the D-Backs on July 24, by|2001. Cintrón won a World Series ring that year, getting 2 postseason at bats. On March 8, by|2006, Cintrón was traded to the Chicago White Sox for Jeff Bajenaru. The White Sox waived him on November 29, by|2007, and he signed a minor league contract with an invite to spring training with the Chicago Cubs on February 18, by|2008. He was released on March 26, 2008. On March 31, Andy MacPhail, GM of the Orioles, announced that Cintrón had been signed to a minor-league deal to play for the Norfolk Tides. On May 11, his contract was purchased by the Orioles, and he was added to the active roster.

In an eight-season career, Cintrón has compiled a .277 batting average with 33 home runs and 222 RBI in 659 games.
