"Big White Fog" is a play by American playwright
Theodore Ward and was his first major work. Completed in 1937, it was produced by the Negro Unit of theChicago Federal Theatre Project (FTP) in 1938 and opened amid controversy.In 1940 Ward joined
Langston Hughes ,Paul Robeson ,Theodore Browne , Richard Wright andAlain Locke to form theNegro Playwrights Company inNew York . Their first production was a revival of "Big White Fog" at theLincoln Theatre inHarlem ."Big White Fog" received its European premiere at the
Almeida Theatre in London on11 May 2007 . This production was dedicated toMary Sangigian , an Armenian-American social activist who was married to Ward for 23 years and died in2007 aged 95.References
