The Motorola RAZR² is the successor to the popular RAZR. The new RAZR model comes in three almost identical models, the V8, V9m and the V9, it is 2 mm thinner than its predecessor but slightly wider. The original RAZR screen was widely complained about, but in this latest version it has been strengthened from scratching with a steel frame and chemically protected glass. Some of the new features of this new series include; a 2 megapixel camera, full HTML web browser, Crystaltalk technology (technology that reduces and filters out background noise), and a convert|2|in|mm|sing=on touchscreen on the front of the closed phone. Release dates

The V8 was released in July 2007. As of October 15, 2007, T-Mobile has offered the V8 model.

In the near future AT&T will be offering the V9x, which adds support for AT&T's "AT&T Navigator" GPS software.

Features

The RAZR² has, in addition to the Opera internet browser and 2 megapixel camera, a 1000-contact phone book, calculator, notepad, alarm clock, voice recorder, and currency converter.

The major difference between the three models are their capabilities. The V8 is a basic GSM phone with EDGE capabilities, and will be sold via conventional retail channels. The V9 supports HSDPA 3G and has video calling and features like "See What I See". The V9m is similar to the V9, except that it supports EV-DO, and a number of its specs have been downgraded, the most significant being its processor runs at half speed, and it does not include Crystaltalk. However, features such as an e-book system, major subway maps in South Korea, and an English dictionary are still present. These phones are not affected by the recent ban on importing phones with technology by Qualcomm.

RAZR² V8- comes in Blue and Grey, EDGE, 262k color display, 512MB or 2GB on board memory.

RAZR² V9- comes in mahogany, 3.6 Mbit/s HSDPA, 262k color display, ~50MB on board memory, supports up to 2GB microSD, Video telephony.

RAZR² V9m- comes in sand color and in grey, 2 Mbit/s EV-DO, 65k color display, 45MB onboard memory, supports up to 2GB microSD.

RAZR² V9x- will come in black, 3.6 Mbit/s HSDPA, 262k color display, ~50MB on board memory, supports up to 2GB microSD, Video telephony, GPS.

TV Commercial

The television commercial features the song Le Disko from the electronica band, Shiny Toy Guns. Also featured are models Nikolett Barabas and Matt Mullins in a fight scene involving using the phones to slash each other's clothes (like a namesake razor).

A RAZR² commercial by Sprint for North America features several RAZR²'s impaled into various objects. It then shows Eric Mangini, head coach of the NFL's New York Jets, looking on his RAZR² at highlights of a Jets game that were critical of their performance, and flings the phone in disgust, with the phone impaling a car.
