Aleksandar Beric

Aleksandar Beric (13 June 190612 April 1941), born in Novi Becej, Serbia, was a war hero in then Kingdom of Yugoslavia during the short-lived "April War" in 1941.

He was commander (rank: lieutenant of I.class, commander of the frigate) of the ship "Monitor Drava" on which he died 12 April 1941. He fought against Nazi German Luftwaffe's Stuka dive-bombers on the river Danube, refusing to surrender his ship in command to superior Nazi German forces.
