Ghazaliya

Ghazaliya (Arabic,الغزالية) is a neighborhood in Baghdad, Iraq.

It is believed that it was named after a Muslim scholar Abu Hāmed Mohammad ibn Mohammad al-Ghazzālī.

Currently Ghazaliya is under control of US Forces, more specifically 1-75 Cav of the 2nd BCT 101st Airborne Division (AASLT). 1-75 CAV took over operational control of Ghazaliya in November of 2007 from 2-12 CAV of the 1st CAV DIV (out of FT. Hood, TX.), and will relenquish control somtetime around Dec of 2008.
