Leonard Sims

Leonard Sims (born 1916) is a World War II veteran who was beaten violently in a carjacking by Deonte Bradley. The attack was caught on surveillance tape and received nationwide attention due to its brutal nature.

Attack

;EventsOn May 4 2007 around 8:35 PM Sims exited the 'Stop and Go Liquor Store' located at 3206 W. McNichols in Detroit and headed towards his 2005 Chevy Malibu. 22 year-old Deontae Edward Bradley accosted him at the car and asked for a lighter before beginning his attack. He landed 21 blows in all before acquiring Sims' keys and leaving the scene in the Chevy. ;AftermathBradley was arrested on May 10 after an investigation by the Detroit Police Department and the Violent Crimes Department. He currently faces charges of carjacking with a penalty of up to life behind bars and Assault With Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years.
