CKMX

CKMX is a Canadian radio station in Calgary, Alberta with a classic country music format at AM 1060 kHz and is owned by Astral Media.

The station dates back to 1921 when it was founded as CFCN. It was a phantom station affiliate of the Canadian National Railway radio network and later of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's Dominion Network. [ [http://www.broadcasting-history.ca/listings_and_histories/radio/histories.php?id=168&historyID=67] ] In 1947, the station moved to its current AM frequency at 1060 kHz and adopted the CKMX call letters in 1994. It can be heard on shortwave on 6030 kilohertz, reaching western North America.

It became CKMX in 1992 when Maclean-Hunter sold it while retaining ownership of sister station CFCN-TV. [ [http://www.broadcasting-history.ca/listings_and_histories/radio/histories.php?id=168&historyID=67] ]
