The FFSA GT Championship ("Championnate de France FFSA GT") is a French
Grand Touring -stylesports car racing series that began in1997 . It is controlled by theFédération Française du Sport Automobile (FFSA) and organized by theStéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO).History
Founded by Patrick Peter in 1997 as an off-shoot of the international
BPR Global GT Series , this national version would feature a wide variety of Grand Touring-style cars in multiple classes competing at the same time on mostly French courses. 1998 saw the SRO take over the series as the classes were reorganized to reflect the changes made in the newFIA GT Championship , continuing in a similar formula today.Currently the series uses GT1 (from FIA GT) and GT3 (from the
FIA GT3 European Championship ) classes in competition at a variety of French tracks.Champions
