Brendan Cummins (born 1950) is a former Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Blackrock and with the Cork senior inter-county team in the 1970s.

Playing career

Club

Cummins played his club hurling with the famous Blackrock club in Cork and had much success. The success began in 1971 when he won his first senior county title. This win was later converted into a set of Munster and All-Ireland club medals. Two years later in 1973 Cummins repeated this feat by capturing his second set of county, provincial and All-Ireland club medals. He won further county titles in 1975, 1978 and 1979.

Inter-county

Cummins first came to prominence as a hurler in the late 1960s as a member of the Cork minor hurling team. He won a Munster minor medal in 1968 before joining the county's under-21 set up. In 1970 Cummins won a Munster under-21 title before adding an All-Ireland title to his collection. In 1976 Cummins joined his brother Ray on the Cork senior hurling team with whom he won a Munster medal. Later that year he won an All-Ireland medal following a win over Wexford.
