London .History
Morgan Sindall was formed in 1994 from the reverse takeover by William Sindall plc of Morgan Lovell plc, the latter business having been founded in 1977 by John Morgan and Jack Lovell in a small office in Golden Square in
Soho when they both were just 21 years old.William Sindall was a very old established and hugely respected name in the construction industry. William Sindall was established in the 1860s and was renowned for his quality work for the universities in Cambridge. Sindall acquired Hinkins & Frewin, a company established in 1847 and with a similar reputation for work with the universities in Oxford, to create a truly Oxbridge construction group. William Sindall was at its height in the 1970s and 1980s, involved in numerous prestigeous projects such as the Thames Barrier, the Queen's House at Greenwich, Chatham Historic Dockyard, Middlesex Guildhall in Parliament Square, British Antarctic Survey in Cambridge, Stevenage Lister Hospital, Huntingdon Hinchingbrook Hospital and the Grimsby Princess of Wales Hospital. Apart from Oxford and Cambridge, the group had offices in Norwich, Portsmouth and London, and had building services, architectural joinery, precast concrete, plant hire and small works subsidiaries.
In June 2007 Morgan Sindall purchased the Construction arm of
