Sonny Cobbs

Sonny Cobbs is an English professional football player currently without a club, after leaving League One side Brighton & Hove Albion during June 2008. Sonny can play either in central defence or at left-back.

Sonny was the youngest member of the team which reached the quarter-final of the 2005-06 FA Youth Cup, losing on penalties to Newcastle United after beating Port Vale, Chelsea and Blackburn Rovers in the previous rounds. He became Youth Team captain in 2006-07.

At the beginning of July 2007 it was revealed that Sonny, along with fellow other youth team players Sam Gargan, Lloyd Skinner and Chris Winterton were to be loaned out for three months to local teams for them to gain experience playing at a professional level.

Sonny, along with first-year professional Sam Gargan joined Worthing. Once this deal expired, Sonny signed on loan for Conference South team Dorchester for a month before returning to Brighton.

On the 8 January 2008, Sonny was involved in the Brighton first-team for the first time for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie away at Swansea travelling with the 18 man squad.

Cobbs and Sam Gargan then agreed to join Conference South side Welling on loan, where they were re-united with ex-Albion player Richard Carpenter.

On the 6 May 2008, it was revealed that Cobbs, along with 9 other fellow Brighton players, were to be released from the club at the end of his contract.
