next_route=141State Route 140 is a 15-mile long route in the west-central part of the state. The western terminus of the route is at its junction with State Route 41 on the eastern side of Selma, and the eastern terminus of the route is at its junction with State Route 14 in Burnsville, an unincorporated community in western Autauga County.
Route description
State Route 140 was created in 1986. It is routed along the former route of State Route 14. When a new by-pass route leading from the northeastern side of Selma towards Prattville was completed, State Route 14 was aligned along the new route, and State Route 140 was assigned to the former route of State Route 14.
From its western terminus, State Route 140 leads in an easterly direction as it leaves Selma. At about the halfway point of the route, it takes a virtual 90 degree turn to the north, and continues its northward trajectory until it junctions State Route 14.
