Vlad III the Impaler (famous for having inspiredBram Stoker 's characterDracula ) was buried in the Snagov monastery on an island only accessible by boat in the middle of Lake Snagov. However his body was never found.Exist two natural protected areas: "Snagov Lake" and "Snagov Forest". [http://www.snagov/ro/APLS "Snagov Lake] (Aria Naturala Protejata Lacul Snagov - ANPLS) has about 150 hectares in size and protect about 20 species. [http://www.snagov.ro/APPS "Snagov Forrest"] (Aria Naturala Protejata Lacul Snagov - ANPLS) has about 10 hectares. For both of them is required further help and assistence to preserve the biodiversity (over 20 protected species).
