March 29 1971 ), also sometimes known as Void, is a Hungarianblack metal vocalist , best known for his vocal work on the album "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas " by Mayhem. AuthorIan Christe describes his vocals as "operatic."cite book | last = Christe | first = Ian | title = Sound of the Beast: the Complete Headbanging History of Heavy Metal | publisher = HarperCollins Publishers Inc. | date = 2003 | location = New York, New York | pages = 275 | url = | doi = | id = | isbn = ]His career started in the Hungarian metal band
Tormentor . The band reached a cult status inblack metal circles, even without major label releases. In 1992, Attila was invited to perform vocals onDe Mysteriis Dom Sathanas after Mayhem's then-vocalist Dead committed suicide. When Csihar first joined Mayhem, he was "grossed out" at the pig heads and dead animals on stage. Csihar, who stated in an interview with Revolver Magazine that he is a vegetarian, conceded, "I was freaked out myself... Like, fuck, I don't know if I want to do this." However, the album became one of the quintessential albums of the genre, even though some fans consider Csihar's vocals out of place. In the band's now two-decade long history, he has been Mayhem's only non-Scandinavia n member. After Mayhem, Csihar continued to work in various experimental projects, such as
Plasma Pool ,Aborym , andKorog . In 2004, he recorded vocals for the song 'Decay2 (Nihil's Maw)' by American doom/drone metal bandSunn O))) . He is considered a shadow member of the band and even performed live with the band on theirEurope an tour [Interview for french online magazine Les Eternels, Dec 2007. http://www.leseternels.net/interviews.aspx?id=112] . He briefly performed inKeep of Kalessin as well.More recently, Attila left Aborym in order to rejoin Mayhem after the departure of Maniac, the band's previous vocalist. Attila's final contribution to Aborym was lead vocals on the song "Man Bites God" on the 2006 album, Generator. Attila has also joined
Greg Anderson ofSunn O))) andOren Ambarchi in a new project calledBurial Chamber Trio . This outfit has recorded one album and released on vinyl bySouthern Lord Records and has performed a small number of concertsww in Europe in January and February 2007. For these concerts, Attila dressed in a jute sack while sporting a wig reminiscent of Norman Bates's mother in the 1960 film, Psycho.Attila is divorced and has two children. He resides in
Budapest .Discography
