Devi d.

Character Synopsis

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac

Devi is the protagonist of her own two-issue comic, I Feel Sick. Devi is currently under attack by the same forces, supernatural and/or psychological, that wrought havoc on Johnny, the anti-hero of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. Johnny met her in the bookstore she once worked in, before she became a professional artist, and went on a date with her that ended in almost being able to kiss her, making her his only love interest, but instead he felt so happy that he wanted to 'immortalize the moment' and attacked her. Instead, she beat him up and fled. Ever since, he has been occasionally trying to contact her to apologize and try and explain his odd reasons for trying to kill her, in which she responds to by locking herself in her house and screaming at him over the phone. She was raised by her father, at least from her mid-teens, and has remained somewhat antisocial since then, stemming from her disastrous first date. Her later attempts at dating fared no better, and have in fact become worse (her last two attempts being a sufferer of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and the homicidal maniac himself). A grotesquely obese woman's psychic fat informed her that the only person who could have ever understood her, a boy named Spidgey Simons, was killed by a chalk-induced asthma attack, caused by her when she was in the first grade. Her best friend is a possibly insane black woman, named Tenna (Tonja in JTHM), who talks to a squeaky spooky doll, and tells Devi that her problem is not getting out enough. In her comic, Devi, quits her bookstore job for a one at the Nerve Publishing corporation, where she is forced to not be creative, taking on a similar personality and situation of Jhonen Vasquez's feelings towards Nickelodeon, while making Invader ZIM.
