Imambargah Colonel Maqbool Hussain

Imambargah Colonel Maqbool Hussain

Imambargah is a place where people (mostly Shia Muslims) gather to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussain bin Ali (A.S.). These mourning sessions (or Majalis) also serve to educate the people regarding religious matters.

Imambargah Colonel Maqbool Hussain (Estb 1947) is the central and most renowned Imambargah of Rawalpindi, Pakistan. It is one of the oldest Imambargahs in the city. Named after its founder Lt Col Maqbool Hussain Zaidi (Late) [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maqbool_Hussain_Zaidi] , the Imambargah was the first to introduce mourning processions in the city and conduct organised Majalis in 1947. The Imambargah is located in old city on the busy Gordon College Road.
Imambargah was run by its founder till his death in 1969. Thereafter, its administration is being looked after by his widow and his sons --- Mehdi Alamdar Hussain, Muhammad Iftikhar Hussain and Hashim Vaqar Hussain."'Unreferenced|date=June 2007
