Nipple hair

Nipple hair

Nipple hair is hair that grows directly on or around the nipples. The amount and type of hair that exists in this region depends on factors including age, sex, and race. It generally develops during and after puberty, and is thus categorized as androgenic hair.

Nipple hair is common among both women and men, although it is not as socially acceptable for coarse, dark hair to sprout from the nipple area for women. As a result, many women and some men resort to a variety of depilatory methods of removing the hair. Because the area around the nipple is particularly sensitive, plucking the hairs with a sterile pair of tweezers is recommended against other methods such as sugaring, waxing, or shaving.

The world's longest nipple hair as found in the 2007 edition of the "Guinness Book of World Records" belongs to Doug Williams of New York City and measures in at 129 mm, beating the previous record of 115 millimeters.

Wiliams' record breaking attempt was recorded as part of a TV documentary - a photograph can be found at http://www.brooklynpaper.com/assets/photos/30/22/30_22nipplehairwin_z.jpg. Doug Williams now lives in Oakland and maintains a nipple hair related website at [http://longestnipplehair.com]
