In 1982 she won a Yugoslav national beauty pageant and she was crowned Miss
Yugoslavia to represent the country for theMiss World 1982 . Soon after, Sasso become a symbol of a woman's beauty in her native land and until today she remains one of the most recognizable names among the ex Yugoslavians. She was also famous for her "Pipi" soda drink commercial which was made in the pinnacle of Sasso's popularity.Early years
Ana Sasso was born in
Split ,Croatia in 1963. After finishing high school she started presuading a career as a model. Soon after, in the fall of 1982 she received an offer from then head of the board for the Miss Yugoslavia pageant,Sasa Zalepugin to get enrolled into this beauty contest. Two months later she was crowned Miss Yugoslavia for 1982.Later years
After the Miss World pageant in 1982 Sasso continued to model in Milan and Paris. In 2005 she married a Split lawyer, Igor Franchesi. The couple got divorced a year later.
Illegal substance controversy
In the period between 2004-2007 Croatian media reported of Sasso being a long time cocaine addict. In 2006 she was involved in a bar brawl along with her boyfriend, a Split surgeon Hrvoje Tomasovic. Reportedly the brawl occurred shortly after midnight on July 16th in the Carpe Diem club at the Croatian island of
Hvar . According to the media, two British tourists were taken to a local hospital after they got involved in the confrontation with some locals which included Ana and her boyfriend Hrvoje Tomasevic. The couple was arrested and charged with battery. Tomasevic was sentenced to three months in jail while Sasso was given probation. Her ex boyfriend, a Split based businessman Miljenko Gusic accused Sasso through the newspaper of being a long time cocaine addict.
