Issam Taweel

Issam Taweel, born July 10, 1989, in Aleepo, Syria, started playing tennis at the age of 13. He has trained in Syria, Spain, United States and Egypt.He is currently the Mens Open Division Champion Of Syria. At age 17 he is ranked in the top 300 ITF Juniors Division, despite playing a limited number of summer tournaments.

For the past two years in a row he has played the Davis Cup for the Syrian Team. Last year he went as the No. 4 seed in Syria and returned as the No.2 seed. He won the 18 and under division, in Syria, three consecutive times and the 16 year old division twice in a row (he is the raining champ). This year he is attending the Davis Cup as the No.1 seed in Syria with a team of four other players. He plays in singles as well as doubles events. He is extremely devoted to his sport; he practices about 6 days a week, between 3–6 hours a day. Issam's best shot "would be his return service," as was stated by his brother Salah Taweel. Issam's brother Salah, 30 and sister Sarah, 29 are also tennis players. Both Salah and Sarah have played in the Davis Cup and also the Federation Cup. The two also played College tennis at Abeliene Christian University in Texas, where Sarah was All- American player in the NCAA. Issam's goal is to eventually play as a Professional in Grand Slam tournaments.
