Intraoperative radiation therapy

Intraoperative radiation therapy

Intraoperative radiation therapy is applying therapeutic levels of radiation to a target area, such as a cancer tumor, while the area is exposed during surgery.

Applications

Inoperable tumors are prime candidates for "Intraoperative radiation therapy" as they are usually inoperable due to being attached to organs, or other healthy tissue.
