String Quartet No. 6 (Mendelssohn)

The String Quartet No. 6 in F minor, Op. 80, was composed by Felix Mendelssohn in 1847 and is essentially his last major composition. The piece was composed after the death of his sister Fanny and is consequently powerful and highly emotive.

Movements

Like all of Mendelssohn's string quartets, this work has four movements:

# Allegro vivace assai
# Allegro assai
# Adagio
# Finale: Allegro molto

A typical performance lasts around 25 minutes.
